Happy Birthday Little Brother!

Happy Birthday to Marlon Jr.! He is fourteen today at 11:07p.m.
I'll never forget the day he was born... I was four, we went to visit my grandmother for dinner, and before we made it to the front door, my mom went into labor-- thus suddenly abandoning me for the night at my grandma's house. I'll never forget how upset I was, but I also will never forget the excitement and happiness I was to finally be a big sister.

Dusk in Sunol.

These are taken at and around the land in Sunol that my parents own. I love this place, it's secluded, quiet and everywhere around is so beautiful.

and I'm planning on shooting in film again sometime soon with my canon. Can't wait!

Big dreams, big dreams.

There's a lot I plan on doing with my life: Travel, document human culture through photographs, open an art studio, get married, have two kids, travel some more, eat great food, and most importantly, inspire others. I know that I am very young right now, only seventeen. But I have lived a great deal of life so far in my existence, and for that, I am truly grateful for all that I accomplished with the help of my parents and other mentors I have in my life. I've been working since I was fifteen at an amazing and influential martial arts school, and I now have an internship with a very well and established photographer. I see a bright future ahead of me, I know that one day I will accomplish all of my goals and aspirations in life. I have had several people who have put me down but  I simply turn those negative vibes into something positive, people who have time to criticize in such an awful and nonconstructive manner, simply have nothing better to do with their sad lives or their envy drives them to such  disgusting lows. My world revolves around art, it drives our universe and thrives through all human life. I am an artist, no matter what anyone says. We are all artists in one way or another. We all strive for something large and meaningful. We create. We love. We dream. My dream is my future, I know what I want and I will have it. No one, and no force can stop me from accomplishing the most full-fulling life I can live. This is only the beginning.

La Rosa De Maria

Last night, I was thinking about my great grandmothers roses that grow and bloom every spring. I love to draw roses and I decided to bring them to life on a canvas. This morning, I found out that my grandma is dangerously ill. I'm extremely worried and I pray she will be okay. I dedicate this painting to her, and her beautiful full magenta roses. I ask to those who read this, to keep her in your prayers.

Childhood Battles

I recently read a book title A Long Way Gone by Ishmeal Beah for a multicultural literature class. It a biography about a boy soldier who was about 12 years old during the Sierra Lione Civil War in the 90's. The suffering, pain, drugs and violence that he had  endured inspired a small project in which I collaborated with one of my close friends.

Film Filters

These photos are more for artistic trial. I recently downloaded some film filters for digital photos, and I decided to try them out with these photos I took last week in Livermore.

Noise and Old things.

I was just going through some old photographs of friends and other things. I've been so in love with grainy black and white photos lately and I decided to reinvent some digital pictures I had stored away.

My most recent project is "SAVAGE". Inspired by beautiful bone structures and black&white photography. My models are Kalvin Ray Joven and Alyssa Rhaye Graciano. This First shot of Alyssa is in traditonal film, and the ones that follow are in digital.
